Results Day

I can’t remember much about that drive home after the FNA but I do recall asking Janne if he knew where the brake was...just in case. He’d not even hesitated with his answer “it’s one of the three” he said calmly. What I would advise is taking somebody with you to the FNA who can drive!

Waiting for results is understandably nerve-wracking and if like me you suffer with anxiety it can be really hard to wait for the next appointment. Luckily for me I had discovered Bridgerton around this time and now understood what all the hype was about, mainly the hype around The Duke. I had also invested in a heated throw, you just plug it in and it heats up with you inside...genius! You can even fasten yourself into it. When you’re going through something tough, whatever mountain you are climbing you have to be kind to yourself and so this is why every evening after putting Lily to bed I sat in my heated throw like a Queen and watched Bridgerton!
Results day was nerve-wracking and hard too when you have to go there alone because of Covid. It wasn’t the usual consultant, which was actually a good thing.  He began to ask me questions about my FNA...it was almost like a scene from Line of Duty as he interrogated me about what the Doctor had said “erm...no comment!” Had they told me that they may not have got any cells “ahhh...no comment!” I could tell this guy was building it up and he explained that they hadn’t been able to get a result from the test and I now had some options, these options were:

1. Have another FNA
2. Go for surgery
3. Leave it, monitor it, pray!!

He asked me what I wanted to do “no comment!” Actually I told him I didn’t have a bloody clue. What should I do? I didn’t want surgery, or another FNA and leaving it didn’t seem a good idea either. Luckily the consultant told me that if it was him he’d have another FNA, the surgery would be invasive and a lot to go through,  if they could try and get a result from the FNA then it would be worth going for round 2. I agreed, disheartened that I was still no closer to a result. I went home, climbed back into my throw and tried to forget about FNA round 2. I may have googled for a bit...

How do you get cells out of a thyroid nodule?
What is a thyroid?
What does it mean if you dreamt Donald Trump’s face was your tumour?

Do not google! Promise me you will not google...the moment you google you will find all kinds of crazy shit...like the woman whose thyroid scar looked like the crust on a Bakewell Tart! Or that your thyroid looks like Patrick Star from Spongebob...DO NOT GOOGLE!
Watch Bridgerton instead!
